Mount Kerinci is the highest mountain on the island of Sumatra, with an altitude of 3,805 meters above sea level, and also the highest volcano in Indonesia.
This mountain is located in the Bukit Barisan Mountains, Jambi Province, and is still very beautiful because it is surrounded by dense forest. The mountain, which is located in the Kerinci Seblat National Park area, is also the natural habitat of the Sumatran tiger and Sumatran rhino. The peak of Mount Kerinci is named after the Peak of Indrapura. From there, we can see the views of the cities of Jambi, Padang, and Bengkulu, and even the vast Indian Ocean can be seen clearly.
Mount Kerinci has a crater covering an area of 400 x 120 meters filled with green water. In addition, in the eastern part, there is Lake Bento, which is the highest clear water swamp in Sumatra. Not only that but at the back, there is also the beauty of Gunung Tujuh with a dazzling crater. Mount Kerinci is an active stratovolcano-type volcano and has been named one of the World Heritage Sites for the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra.
The starting point will start from Kersik Tuo Village, Kayu Aro District at an altitude of 1,400m above sea level.
